Tip

Share room key with users on your same IP.

How it works

Share text and files between devices on the same public IP

CopyPaster creates a temporary room from the public IP address visible to the service. Devices routed through that same address can see the room content without creating an account. This is useful for quick transfers, but it is not end-to-end encrypted or intended for confidential data.

  1. Step 1

    Open both devices

Connect both devices through the same public internet connection, then open CopyPaster in each browser.

  2. Step 2

    Choose a sharing tool

Use Text for notes and links, Files for temporary uploads, or Chat for short room conversations.

  3. Step 3

    Confirm the room key

Matching room keys mean both browsers were assigned to the same public-IP room.

What a room includes

The text panel accepts up to 20,000 characters and synchronizes changes between room participants. Chat is designed for short messages. File sharing accepts PNG, JPG, WEBP, PDF, TXT, and DOCX files up to 10 MB. Uploaded files expire after one hour.

Important privacy limits

A public-IP room is shared by anyone whose traffic reaches CopyPaster through the same public address. That can include family members, coworkers, school users, customers on guest Wi-Fi, or devices behind a VPN gateway. Do not paste passwords, payment details, private keys, medical records, or other sensitive information.

Common uses

  • Move a link from a phone to a desktop without signing in.
  • Share a temporary note with someone using the same Wi-Fi connection.
  • Transfer a supported document or image between nearby devices.
  • Exchange short messages while troubleshooting another device.

Before you leave

Clear shared text and chat when the handoff is complete. Remove files sooner if they are no longer needed instead of waiting for automatic expiry. If two devices show different room keys, they are using different public routes and will not share the same room.

Detailed guides

Read practical instructions before sharing important material, especially on workplace, school, guest Wi-Fi, carrier, or VPN connections.
